Scooby duo is a brown dog with some distinctive black spots on his upper body. Occasionally, he displays bipedal human characteristics but he is generally quadruped. His personality

Scooby has a family comprising of cousins such as Scooby Drum, Scooby Dee, Whoopsy Doo and Dixie Doo not to mention his identical cousin Dooby Dooby Doo. He also has a young nephew, Scrappy Doo, a mother, Mumsy Doo, a father, Dada Doo and brothers, Skippy Doo, Yabba Doo and Howdy Doo not to forget his sister Ruby Doo who is the mother to Scrappy Doo. His grandfather, Grandpa Scoopy and his great grandfather, Great Grandpa Scooby also form part of his extended family. Finally is Yankee Doodie Doo who is Scooby’s ancestor who came to Plymouth with Shaggy’s ancestor McBaggy Rodgers aboard the Mayflower.

Scooby Doo, Where are you?
On Saturday 13th September of 1969, Scooby made his debut on the CBS network with his first ever episode titled What a night for a Knight.’ This series featured Don Messick a veteran voice actor as Scooby
Doo and radio Dj Casey Kasem as Shaggy. A host of other voice actors including Frank Welker as Fred, Nicole Jaffe as Velma and Indira Stefanianna as Daphane also made the initial cast. With the series theme song written by Ben Raleigh and David Mook and performed by Paul Costello and Larry Marks, seventeen episodes were produced in 1969.
New Scooby Doo Movies
In 1972, episodes entitled The new Scooby Doo Movies’ were created each running for one hour. The episodes featured a guest star that helped the gang to solve mysteries with a new theme song being composed for this series by Hoyt Curtin. Two seasons with 24 episodes were made under this title running from 1972 to 1974 and later CBS aired reruns of the original Title until 1976.
Scooby Doo Show and Scooby’s all star Laff -A —Lympics
ABC made a deal with Hannah Barbera to bring new episodes of Scooby Doo on the Saturday morning lineup on ABC. During the 1976 to 1977 season, a total of sixteen new episodes of Scooby Doo were aired while in the 1977 to 1978 season, the show became a two hour programming block with Scooby’s-All Star
Laff —A- lympics. A total of 40 episodes were put together from 1976 to 1978 and later packaged together as The Scooby Doo Show’.
Scooby Doo and Scrappy Doo
On December 13th 1979, an hour long ABC special was aired titled Scooby goes Hollywood’ which revolved around Scooby and Shaggy. This was done as an attempt to save the slipping ratings and eventually after airing the episodes between 1979 and 1980, the half hour shows had succeeded in regenerating interest in the show.
The new Scooby Doo and Scrappy Doo
As a result of the success witnessed with the new shows featuring Scooby’s cousin, the show was overhauled to focus more on Scrappy Doo in 1980 This time saw Scooby start to run and walk on two feet more often than in previous shows where he was on all fours like a normal dog.
Since 1980, a host of other shows such as The new Scooby and Scrappy Doo show’, The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo’ and A pup named Scooby Doo’ were produced which ran all the way to 1993. In the period between 1993 to date, there have been enormous variations of the show with theatrical films and telefilms lined up on several television networks. More recently in 2013, Warner Bros announced that they will be developing an animated Scooby Doo feature film in collaboration with Atlas Entertainment.
