How Did J.K. Rowling End Up Writing The Harry Potter Novels?
The idea for Harry Potter fell into Rowling’s lap one week when she was on a train, returning back to London. The idea was that she would be writing about a black-haired, bespectacled, little, scrawny book, but somehow that boy became more and more of a wizard to her, and that very evening she started writing the first novel of the Harry Potter series. The death of Rowling’s mother left her with a lot of anguish and pain that she managed to cope with by continuing to write about the orphan Harry and ultimately completing the novel that would turn out to be a distinctive fantasy, nothing like other fantasy novels that had been read until that time
